Heil Introduces Two New Products

Equipment firm introduces the DuaLift hook-lift hoist and its KwikLift cable hoist.

Heil Environmental, Chattanooga, Tenn., has launched two new products: the DuaLift, which combines a hook lift and a cable hoist for quickly and efficiently unloading hook and cable roll-off containers and the KwikLift cable hoist that the company says can load and unload roll-off containers in half the time of conventional hoists.

According to Heil, DuaLift’s design offers advantages over conventional roll-off hoists. The hoist can service both hook and cable containers with a single chassis. The DuaLift can load and unload containers faster than standard reeving operations, haul both standard containers and short hook containers and power short containers to the rear of the frame before raising for additional safety. The hoist accommodates roll-off container lengths of between 12-24 feet, and 62-, 54- and 36-inch lift bars.

Heil notes that the DuaLift is an ideal solution for horizontally loading pup trailers, docks and flatbeds. It features a standard 10-foot cable at the rear of the hoist, offers the ability to hook containers at the lowest elevation in the business and enables towing of containers with the hoist down when needed. The unit also features a shaking capability to empty difficult-to-remove cardboard or frozen loads.

“Safety is one of the most important issues facing waste haulers today,” says Dick Williams, Heil’s sales manager. “Our customers expect us to develop products with safety foremost in the design process. The DuaLift combination hook lift and cable hoist unit delivers top-notch performance and speed without sacrificing safety. When they get to see it in action, especially the shaking ability, operators can’t stop talking about it.”

Heil says that KwikLift’s free cable length is 10 feet long, which is achieved by the traveling carriage, which is hydraulically powered to travel the entire length of the hoist. Because the cable sheave is attached to the carriage, every foot of carriage travel – either extending or retracting -- produces two feet of cable movement. This cuts loading and unloading time by 50 percent over traditional roll-off hoists.

In addition to delivering increased power and speed throughout the hoist’s operation, the carriage can be cycled back and forth in a manner that produces rapid container movement to help shake loose stubborn loads, a feature found only on DuaLift’s roll-off hoists. The carriage can pull a container far forward on the hoist, a particularly attractive benefit when hauling shorter containers. And, the container rollers do not interfere with the tandem fenders.

The KwikLift offers safety features such as the housing that surrounds the cable sheave. If a cable failure does occur, the restraint mechanism and the shorter length of the cable act together to prevent the whip-like action of a broken cable from reaching the cab and possibly injuring the operator.
