Heckett MultiServ, a division of Harsco Corp. signed two ten-year contracts with steel companies in Belgium and Italy. The combined value of the two deals will exceed $40 million.
The company signed an agreement with Duferco’s La Louviere steel mill in Belgium. The deal provides for Heckett to unload and manage incoming material to the mill’s specifications for reuse in the mill’s electric arc furnace.
The award adds to a ten-year contract renewal that extends the company’s responsibilities for metal recovery, liquid slag transport, and material handling services.
Heckett has worked with La Louviere since 1969.
The company also signed a ten-year agreement with Acciai Speciali Termi SpA stainless steel operations in Terni, Italy. As part of its expanded operations Heckett will handle the transport of hot liquid steel to and from the mill’s thin slab caster.
Last year the company’s role increased to add steel slab transport, slab grinding, and slab yard management. Earlier this year Heckett was awarded the responsibility for scrap management services.
