Harsco Corp., headquartered in Camp Hill, Pa., has announced it has been awarded two new environmental solutions contracts by one of India's largest steelmakers, JSW Steel Ltd., headquartered in Mumbai, India.
The contracts are valued at a combined total of more than $135 million over a 10-year period, according to a press release. In order to fulfill the agreement, Harsco’s contribution will include the briquetting and micro-pelletizing of JSWSteel Ltd.'s iron and steel making byproducts at the massive Vijayanagar production facility, one of the biggest plants in India. At the site, JSW Steel Ltd. plans to produce approximately 10 million tons of flat and long products annually. Harsco’s resource recovery technologies will be designed to help JSW Steel Ltd. recover the high-value iron content of its byproducts for use in the production of new steel and iron. The work will be performed through Harsco's joint venture partnership, Harsco India Private Limited.
Galdino Claro, Harsco executive vice president and group CEO, says, "We are honored and excited by this major opportunity to become an important environmental solutions partner to one of India's premier industrial companies, and to position Harsco for future growth opportunities in this key strategic market."
