Equipment manufacturer Metso has announced plans to rebuild a relocated fine paper machine for the Mexican paper company Grupo Unipak S.A. de C.V. PT at its Grupak Hidalgo site in Emiliano Zapata, Mexico.
Metso, headquartered in Finland, is a global supplier of technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries.
The rebuilt machine is scheduled to restart by the first quarter of 2013. The value of the order is around €5 million ($7.3 million). The relocated machine had previously been in the United States.
According to a Metso news release, the relocated fine paper machine will be reconditioned and modified to manufacture recycled containerboard grades. Metso’s involvement will include a modernization of the machine’s forming section, modifications to the dryer section, air systems, steam and condensation system as well as refitting the stock preparation system and providing a new dry-end pulper.
Mexico-based Grupo Unipak produces a range of packaging products, primarily for the food industry. The company currently produces liner and fluting grades for its internal use on two machines in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
