Greystone Logistics Inc., a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based processor of recycled plastic and that designs, manufactures and sells 100 percent-recycled plastic pallets, has announced the purchase of Paradigm Plastic Pallets Inc. extrusion lines, plastic pallet manufacturing equipment and the reinstatement of production capabilities at its plant in Jasper, Indiana. The purchase price was not disclosed.
According to Greystone, Evansville, Indiana-based Paradigm’s pallets are manufactured using a hollow profile extrusion process and include robotics to facilitate the production. Greystone adds recycled plastic will be used in the process, consistent with its green standards.
The pallets produced at the Jasper facility are a diversification from Greystone’s current plastic injection pallet designs. The company says Paradigm’s equipment is capable of manufacturing pallets from 18 inches by 18 inches to 60 inches by 60 inches with an almost infinite combination of top and bottom board configurations within the welding cells and allows for unusual sizes, such as 48-inch-by-96-inch size outside the cells.
Greystone adds that Paradigm Pallets have been tested and approved for use at global companies such as Toyota, Honda, Berry Global Group, Sonoco and others.
“This acquisition will provide Greystone with access to world-class manufacturing support, a deeply researched and developed product line, an experienced and robust nationwide sales network and highly respected leadership,” Greystone CEO Warren Kruger says. “We are very excited to be able to add plastic extrusion capability to the Greystone family of pallets and are looking forward to a very bright future for the product line.”
Greystone supplies pallets for a wide range of industries, including food and beverage, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and consumer products. The company says its customers include iGPS, Molson Coors, Trinchera Family Estates and Diageo, among others, and its technology, which involves a proprietary blend of recycled plastic resins used in the injection molding equipment and patented pallet designs, allows a more rapid production of pallets at a lower cost.
The company says the recycled plastic in its pallets helps control material costs while reducing environmental waste and provides cost advantages over users of virgin resin.
