Greentec International, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, is reportedly investing $2 million to expand its plant in Cambridge to allow the company to expand its electronics recycling business.
According to a report on the Website of The Kitchener-Waterloo Record (www.TheRecord.com), the expansion is expected to be complete by the end of September 2010. It will add another 26,000 square feet to the company's facility, which presently is 55,000 square feet.
According to the report, the company also is investing $1.5 million in new processing equipment and plans to hire additional staff to handle what it calls a growing need for the disposal and recycling of obsolete electronics.
The company, found on the Web at www.greentec.com, offers reverse logistics and recycling services for print cartridges, cell phones and other types of electronic equipment.
In its article, TheRecord.com notes that the company refurbishes much of the equipment it handles. What can’t be refurbished is dismantled and separated, with metals marketed as scrap metal while plastics are ground down to be sold as a secondary raw material.
