Greenstar WES, based in Redcar, United Kingdom, has won the Recycled Packaging of the Year category in the 2009 National Recycling Awards. Greenstar WES is a part of the Greenstar UK Group.
Greenstar WES was recognized for developing the technology to start commercial production of food-grade recycled HDPE plastic. It goes into new plastic milk bottles and food trays found on the shelves of Britain’s biggest supermarkets, as well as cosmetics containers.
Earlier this year, Greenstar WES received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation) for its recycling technology breakthrough, and it recently won a category in the annual Valpak Awards.
It has developed technologies that enable the processing and recycling of ‘hard to recycle’ plastics, such as plasticized film, low quality plastics and polystyrene.
