GreenMan Technologies, Inc. has installed an independent truck tire shredding line at its Jackson, Ga., facility. The new shredding equipment is expected to increase the Georgia facility's processing capacity by more than 50 percent.
Tom Carter, Southeast Regional vice president stated, "During the past six months, GreenMan has invested over $1.5 million to upgrade shredding and waste wire processing capabilities at our Georgia facility in response to increasing demand for our crumb rubber and tire derived fuel products.”
"In order to eliminate the potential for cross contamination of truck and passenger tire material during processing, we historically ran each material separately through our processing equipment which negatively impacted our overall production capacity during the past five months. The installation of a separate shredder to prepare truck tires for processing into crumb rubber allows us to run both materials simultaneously and therefore significantly increase our daily processing capacity by over 50 percent which is critical for us as we enter the seasonally stronger time of our fiscal year," Cater added.
GreenMan is comprised of six operating locations that collect, process and market scrap more than 30 million scrap tires in whole, shredded or granular form.
