Green Builders to Gather

November conference to take place in Austin, Texas.

C&D recyclers looking to expand end markets for their products may wish to make sure the emerging “green building” movement is aware of what they have to offer.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Washington, has found significant interest in its first International Green Building Conference & Expo. The event has been scheduled for Nov. 13-15 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.

Expo floor space has been sold out in advance of the show, according to the USGBC. “We’re delighted to see the exhibit floor sell out so quickly—but not entirely surprised either,” says Christine Ervin, president and CEO of the council. “With the green building market growing at such a rapid pace, this conference will be an ideal venue for people to be immersed in both an unmatched educational program and product showroom.”

Green building advocates take into account several environmentally minded considerations, including energy conservation and reducing wildlife habitat destruction. The use of recycled and recyclable materials is also on the checklist for many architects, engineers and builders who try to adhere to green building practices.

The debut USGBC conference will feature more than 170 companies exhibiting in its expo hall, as well as 80 educational panel sessions with more than 175 presentations. Several of the largest building products companies in the U.S. will be exhibiting. On the educational front, sessions covering the use of salvaged, recycled and recyclable materials will be included.
