The Chelsea Center for Recycling and Economic Development is offering grant of up to $25,000 to cities, towns, and non-profit organizations in the state of Massachusetts interested in developing innovative recycled-based community economic development initiatives.
Applications for the grant are available at the CCFRED site at www.chelseacenter.org.
Previous Chelsea Center grants have been used to develop a plan for a medical equipment remanufacturing enterprise; to develop and attract recycled-based businesses to an eco-industrial park; and establish a worm composting facility.
To be eligible for funding, projects must focus on the use of non-hazardous solid waste materials and products recovered from the local waste stream as feedstock for new or existing manufacturing, remanufacturing or reuse enterprises.
Additionally, proposed projects must be a collaborative effort involving local businesses or business groups, community based organizations or community economic development programs and local government.
The deadline for pre-proposals is March 15; full proposals are due May 24. Grant awards will be announced this July.
