The city of Napa (Calif.), and Napa Garbage Service have announced the first two winners in a grant program to establish and improve recycling at apartment complexes throughout the city.
For mid-sized apartments (10-50 units), Woodland Apartments at 2440 Old Sonoma Road will be given a one-time credit of $1,000 on their next garbage bill. For larger-sized apartments (over 50 units), Mayacamas Village at 70 Calaveras Court will be awarded a $1,500 credit in recognition of their extremely successful recycling program. The program will continue to select two winners in each upcoming quarter, for a combined total of $10,000 in prizes, to the best apartment recycling programs in the City.
The California Department of Conservation’s Division of Recycling invited proposals to improve and establish multi-family collection and recycling of used beverage containers (bottles and cans).
