The Glass Packaging Institute’s (GPI) Recycle Glass Week, slated to run from Sept. 12-18, will host five race time stations during the Race Across America 2010 (RAAM 2010) cycling event being held in June. The GPI-sponsored stops are in Oceanside, Calif.; Durango, Col.; Bloomington, Ind.; Oxford, Ohio; and Annapolis, Md. At each GPI station, residents can drop off glass, plastic and aluminum beverage containers for a chance to win prizes.
During RAAM 2010, soloists and groups composed of two, four and eight riders will race relay-style across the 3,000+-mile course from Oceanside to Annapolis. This year’s event is projected to include 275 riders with over 1,000 crewmembers.
GPI’s second annual Recycle Glass Week is planned for Sep. 12-18. During the week, GPI and its members will hold nationwide activities and events to build awareness and boost glass bottle recycling. GPI also will announce the 2010 Clear Choice Awards winners, and recognize Friends of Glass, those organizations or persons that recycle glass or promote the recycling of glass as a way to better the environment.
