Graphic Packaging International Inc. announced plans to close two manufacturing facilities and transition business to other U.S. operating locations. These closures are part of the company's continued efforts to merge with Altivity Packaging.
The carton plants to be closed include a facility in Fort Wayne, Ind., and another plant in Santa Clara, Calif. They are expected to be shuttered by the middle of next year. The company's Santa Clara recycled paperboard mill and Orchard Park, Calif., facility will not be affected by the closures.
"These key closures will complete the plant rationalization element of our integration efforts," said David Scheible, president and CEO of GPI.
