Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. and Georgia-Pacific LLC have reached an agreement where by GP is acquiring the assets of Smurfit-Stone’s board mill in Brewton, Ala. GP will pay around $355 million to acquire the facility.
The two companies hope to have the deal completed by the end of next month. The mill has annual production of around 300,000 tons of white top linerboard and 190,000 tons of solid bleached sulfate.
