The Ontario government has announced plans to give $4 million to Entropex, a Sarnia, Ontario, plastics recycling company.
The company will use the funds to create technology designed to provide opportunities for further developing the plastics recycling industry. The money will come from Ontario’s Innovation Demonstration Fund.
According to the Ontario government, the support will help the company build a new process to recover 30,000 metric tons of plastic every year. Province officials also say the process could save enough electricity to meet the energy needs of 38,000 people.
Entropex reprocesses industrial and consumer grades of plastics. The company says it is the 8th largest post-consumer product recycler and 18th largest plastic recycler in North America.
