Freedom Metals Inc., Louisville, Ky., has announced Randy Goodman has joined the company’s management team as executive vice president. He will be responsible for all aspects of nonferrous metals for the company. Freedom, owned by Bruce Blue and Spencer Blue, operates three facilities in Kentucky. In addition to Louisville, the company has facilities in Elizabethtown and Winchester.
Goodman has been involved in the scrap metal industry for more than 20 years, having previously worked for OmniSource Southeast, Hugo Neu Schnitzer and Recycling Industries’ Central Metals. He will officially start with Freedom Metals Sept. 12 and will work out of the company’s Louisville facility.
Goodman also has been active in recycling-related organizations. He served as president of the Georgia Association of Recycling Industries and was a board member of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) and chair of ISRI’s Nonferrous Division, the Nonferrous Specifications Committee and the Trade Committee.

Spencer Blue adds, “Being a multiple generation family business is becoming a rare commodity in the scrap metal arena. We believe that adding Randy to our team will only help to solidify and grow our presence in the scrap industry. Randy’s extensive knowledge and ‘down to earth’ personality make him a perfect fit for our company.”
