Global Electronics Recovery Named Exclusive U.S. Agent for Cimelia

California company will work with Singapore firm on developing, growing business.

Global Electronics Recovery, Inc., has signed a contract to be the exclusive United States agent for Cimelia Resource Recovery Pte Ltd., a Singapore-based electronic waste recycler and refiner of precious metals.

Last year, GER began negotiations with Cimelia to obtain the exclusive responsibility for the United States. In October, GER was re-incorporated as a Delaware C Corporation and moved to a new facility in Milpitas, Calif.

Cimelia has a 200,000 sq ft e-waste recycling operation in Singapore. The company states that its recycling capacity is estimated to be about 25,000 metric tons per year.

Cimelia’s core business includes e-scrap waste management and recycling, platinum group metals recovery and refining, base metals recycling, and the manufacturing of PGM by-products and base metal alloys.

Mr. Ansari, Cimelia’s director for Business Development said: "Besides the advantage of having the assistance of GER in the United States to manage our existing Multi-National Customer accounts, we believe that the GER management team has the right mix of experience in the industry combined with the ability to implement an aggressive growth strategy, including the acquisition of complementary companies. This fits our needs and we are therefore very optimistic about the growth that we can achieve together."

David Smith, founder of GER, said, "Cimelia has built a spotlessly clean, pollution-free model for processing electronic waste that is both responsible and cost-effective. Their plant uses very innovative technology, and we are convinced that they will remain at the forefront of deploying the best possible technology in the processing of e-waste. And we both share the same commitment to a zero-landfill policy."

Cimelia also recently announced that it had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to acquire the remaining 36.3 percent of Enviro-Hub Holdings Ltd., that the company did not already own. The acquisition will enable the group to consolidate and integrate all its electronic recycling businesses to achieve operational synergies and greater economies of scale.
