In Memoriam: Glen Yount

Founder of Nebraska scrap company dies at age 91.

Glen “Dale” Yount, the founder of All Metals Market Inc., Fremont, Nebraska, died in early November at age 91.
 

Yount was born in Liberal, Missouri. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II and living briefly in Colorado, he moved with his wife, Edna, to Fremont to work for Hormel Foods Corp. He began collecting scrap as a side business in 1969 and was able to quit from the meat-packing plant and run his scrap company full time in 1973.
 

Yount ran All Metals Market until retiring in 1986, when he handed the firm off to his son Kevin and Kevin’s wife, Lori. All Metals Market now operates on 30 acres and has more than 40 employees.
 

He was preceded in death by Edna. He is survived by daughters, Evelyn, Elaine and Marilyn, and sons, Larry, Ken and Kevin, plus 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
