GLC Recycle, a Singapore-based battery recycler, has announced a planned expansion of its processing capacity to serve the battery markets, with the company planning to double its capacity in 2025 and 2026.

By the end of 2026, GLC Recycle says it will have more than quadrupled its black mass processing capacity from 20,000 metric tons per year (approximately 22,040 tons) to 80,000 metric tons per year (approximately 88,106 tons) at its Laos facility, which is hydroelectric powered.

Battery processing capacity at its Singapore facility will also increase, growing from 15,000 metric tons per year (approximately 16,530 tons) to 72,000 metric tons per year (approximately 79,344 tons) in the span of two years.

“This expansion reflects our commitment to meeting the growing demand for responsible battery recycling,” GLC Recycle CEO Yang Mingdong says. “As the electric vehicle market continues to expand, it is crucial to have a robust infrastructure in place to ensure that batteries are recycled in an environmentally friendly way."

The expansion will be supported by the opening of new recycling facilities and the upgrade of existing sites, the company says.
