To be eligible for the award program, Philly residents’ must sport a “Recycling Pays” decal on their recycling bins or buckets. If a member of the WDAS or Power 99 FM Street Teams spots the decal on a resident’s full recycling bin on recycling day, the resident could win concert tickets, movie passes, CDs, t-shirts or even a Caribbean vacation.
Decals are available at WDAS and Power 99 FM events and through the City of Philadelphia Block Captain, Philadelphia area Pathmarks, Blockbuster Video stores and The Gallery and Branches of the Philadelphia Library and Department of Recreation Centers. They can also be downloaded from the www.recyclingPAYS.phila.gov Web site.
According to the Web site, daily and weekly prizes will be awarded between April 18 through June 19, with weekly winners being entered into the grand prize drawing for a four-day, three-night trip for two to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic or Cancun that includes airfare and accommodations.
The street teams will award 144 daily prizes and nine weekly prizes, which can include an Allen Iverson Rookie Jersey valued at $300 or an iPod Shuffle valued at $100.
