Global Environmental Services (GES), a Georgetown, Ky.-based electronics recycling company, has been certified to ISO 14001 and 9001 and to OHSAS 18001.
“It’s a rough road in the electronics recycling industry,” says owner Kenny Gravitt. “There’s little federal regulation, which can make gaining ground a bit tricky. But we’ve worked hard to get where we are and we will continue to work hard to get where we need to be.”
A press release issued by the company states, “Until such regulation exists, however, it will be up to the e-recycling company itself as to whether it handles electronics in an ethical manner. GES will continue its efforts to maintain a high level of ethical conduct.”
Though located in a small town just north of Lexington, Ky., GES says it has nationwide capacities. In addition to electronics recycling, privately owned GES offers data destruction; asset recovery; ink, toner and parts sales; and managed print services. The company, established in 2008, serves businesses as well as consumers.
