Charles Keeling, Gershow Recycling’s safety director, has been named president of the Long Island Chapter of The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). He takes the position on July 1. Gershow operates six scrap metal facilities in Long Island, N.Y.
ASSE has more than 32,000 members who manage, supervise and consult on safety, health and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education.
Keeling served as chairman of the Long Island chapter’s Professional Development Conference and has contributed technical safety articles to its monthly newsletter.
Keeling, with more than 25 years of safety experience, has been safety director for Gershow Recycling for more than four years. His responsibilities include planning, developing and coordinating the occupational safety and health of personnel, equipment and environment to achieve safety effectiveness for the company.
