The Dusseldorf, Germany-based ferrous scrap recycling trade association BDSV has praised Germany’s Federal Administrative Court for ruling that commercial recyclers and haulers can collect bulky discarded items, thus enabling them to compete with municipalities for large, recyclable appliances.
“After many a disappointment in recent years, [and having] to accept the private recycling and waste management industry [deferring to] the priority of the public waste disposal carriers, this time the entrepreneurial freedom of action has prevailed,” says BDSV Chief Executive Dr. Rainer Cosson.
“The BDSV, which has always held the legal view that the commercial collection of bulky waste is allowed, has been confirmed today. We assess the current judgment of the Federal Administrative Court as a victory for the entrepreneurial freedom of action in the recycling and waste management industry.”
