Gerdau Sidenor, a manufacturer of special steels, forgings and castings based in Spain, recently opened a scrap metal recycling facility in the province of Cuadalajara, Spain. The scrap metal will be shipped to Gerdau Sidenor’s two Spanish steel mills, located in Reinosa and Basauri.
According to a Gerdau Sidenor report, the facility will have a storage capacity of 10,000 tons. In a statement, Gerdau Sidenor says the new scrap yard will give it access to scrap in central and southern Spain.
The production capacity at the steel mills exceeds 1 million metric tons per year of special steels, primarily for automobile manufacturing, machinery and equipment, shipbuilding, civil, defense, energy, mining and petrochemical sector.
