The electronics recycling company Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP), Barrie, Ontario, has received a double platinum award for excellence in recycling during the recently held 2011 Recycling Council of Ontario’s (RCO) Waste Minimization Awards Ceremony.
The company was recognized in the two categories: Waste Diversion Program Operator and Sustainable Product or Service.
The Program Operator award is open to both private and public sector organizations and is evaluated based on the following criteria: Materials handled, material tracking, monitoring and measurement, program innovation, communications and training and environmental leadership.
The Sustainable Product or Service award evaluates products or services that improve the management of resources and/or minimize negative environmental impacts during their own life cycle or the life cycle of other goods and services.
GEEP has locations throughout Canada, the United States, Central America, Mexico and Europe. The company says that it processes more than 200 million pounds of electronic equipment per year.
