GEEP to Work with Purolator to Collect Electronic Scrap

Recycler and delivery company to collaborate in Canada.

Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP), Barrie, Ontario, has announced a new collaborative agreement with Purolator Courier Ltd. to collect obsolete electronics at retail locations.

GEEP’s e-colleX network will work in collaboration with Purolator, described in a news release as Canada’s largest courier company, at cooperating retail locations to collect end-of-life Sony and Samsung equipment starting in July of 2010.

Purolator’s Freight division will transport the collected items to GEEP facilities in Canada for recycling. “This enhancement to the e-colleX network will provide customers of our current original equipment manufacturing partners, Sony and Samsung, enhanced opportunities to utilize this network knowing that the e-waste will be responsibly recycled through to end of life,” says GEEP in its news release. “E-colleX welcomes other equipment manufacturers to join the wave with Canada’s premier e-waste collection network,” the company also states.

“This partnership is a pivotal opportunity for GEEP and Purolator to join together in Canada, leveraging our capabilities to help create a global green economy,” says Chris Gariepy, vice president of international marketing at GEEP.

“Purolator is pleased to leverage our extensive retail and LTL transportation network to support this important program. Our collaboration with GEEP will ensure that electrical and electronic items that are reused or properly recycled instead of buried in landfills,” said Joe Guimond, vice president and general manager at Purolator Freight.
