Garden State Paper Co., LLC, filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 reorganization with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Garden State, located in Garfield, N.J., is an affiliate of Enron North America.
Because Enron North America is Garden State Paper’s largest customer, and newsprint prices are at extremely low levels, Garden State Paper was forced to shut down the recycled newsprint mill Dec. 7.
Enron acquired Garden State Paper from Media General last July
However, Garden State Paper Recycling operations will continue to operate.
