The Phoenix location of Gannon & Scott, a precious metals recycler based in Cranston, Rhode Island, has been recognized by HIRE Vets, also known as the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017, with a HIRE Vets Medallion Award this year. 2023 is the fifth consecutive year the company has been honored. Its Phoenix refinery was recognized in 2022, 2020 and 2019, while its Cranston refinery and headquarters location was recognized in 2021 and 2020.
The award recognizes employers that have established clear efforts to recruit, employ and retain U.S. residents who have committed time to the armed forces.
Companies are recognized in the Large (500-plus employees), Medium (51 to 499 employees) or Small (1 to 50 employees) categories.
Gannon & Scott received Gold in the Small Businesses category for maintaining standards that include several criteria, ranging from veteran hiring and retention to providing veteran-specific resources, leadership programming, dedicated human resources and compensation and tuition assistance programs, with requirements varying for large, medium, and small employers, according to HIRE Vets.
“We are proud to have a positive relationship with veterans and veteran organizations like HIRE Vets,” says Gannon & Scott President and Army veteran Christopher Jones. “Our commitment to veterans is only a fraction of their commitment to our country, and we will continue to do whatever we can to curate a positive environment for veterans and their families for years to come.”
