Florida Tire Recycling Inc. announced the launch of FTR Polymetrics, a company subsidiary focused on producing ultra-fine recycled rubber powders in 80 mesh, 140 mesh and 200 mesh sizes. The cost of the product can go for as little as $0.30 per pound.
FTR Polymetrics will collect and prepare 100 percent of its feedstock through closed-loop programs with customers, ensuring the highest level of quality, consistency, repeatability, and traceability in its powders. With the formation of FTR Polymetrics, manufacturers now have a viable, economic alternative for incorporating sustainable materials into the manufacture of rubber, plastics and specialty chemical products.
"There are more than 300 million tires discarded in the US every year and each of those tires can be recycled and reused in a myriad of manufacturing applications," states Anthony Cialone, COO at FTR. "From crumb rubber to ultra-fine rubber powder, FTR Polymetrics meets demands of today's manufacturers and delivers an economical and sustainable material allowing manufacturers to produce greener products."
In addition to its portfolio of affordable ultra-fine rubber powder, FTR Polymetrics also offers companies a Closed-Loop Product Lifecycle Solution that takes waste materials, by-products, or finished product scrap and recycles those materials back into useable crumb and powder rubber raw materials to be introduced back into the manufacturing process. Simply stated, scrap rubber once destined for the landfill is turned into a usable raw material destined for "beneficial re-use" with no compromise to quality or performance of finished products.
