According to a report by Bloomberg, the French private equity firm Alpha Associes is looking to sell its stake in the Swish metals recycling company Metallum. The news report says that the French firm is looking to sell the recycling operation, as well as truck spare parts distributors, to raise money.
KGHM Polska Miedz S.A., a Polish copper producer, is one of the companies considering bidding on the assets. Other companies reportedly considering bids for Metallum include Apollo Global Management LLC, Goldman Sachs Group and First Reserve Corp.
According to Metallum’s website, it recycles, processes and sells one million tons of scrap metal per year, with roughly 60 percent in the copper sector, 20 percent in the aluminum sector and 20 percent in ferrous and other metals.
