The Freudenberg Politex Group announced plans to expand its capacity of in-house production of raw materials by investing in a post-consumer PET bottles recycling plant at its site in Colmar, France.
The plant will have a capacity of 24,000 tons per year of recycled PET flakes and will cover not only the local need of the plant in Colmar, but it will also contribute to the needs of other production units of the Group around the world.
The technology realizes the recycling process through electronic detection of impurities, grinding and washing with detergents, granting high and consistent quality standards of regenerated PET, that allows the production of high quality finished nonwovens products.
The Colmar unit already has been using sizable amounts of recycled PET as a raw material. Work on the new line began last month, with start up of the new operation scheduled by the first half of next year.
Most of the scrap PET will come from Eco-Emballages and Valorplast. Freudenberg
