The Albany, Minn., City Council has approved a conditional use permit to Freeport Recycling Center to relocate its electronics recycling operation to a larger facility in the city.
Dale Overman, owner of the three-year old firm, says the move is needed as the company is seeking to expand its business to include not only marketing of nonferrous metals, but also appliance recycling.
Overman hopes to move to the new location by either the end of July or early August. The new location also gives the company a significant amount more warehouse space to store the equipment.
When the new site is operational, the company will perform demanufacturing of equipment all under roof. Overman adds that he hopes to grow the business enough to allow him to purchase balers and shears, as well as add another forklift to the plant.
The company says that it is a registered by the state of Minnesota as a collector and recycler.
