Franklin Miller Introduces the Taskmaster TM2800

Shredder capable of shredding steel drums.

The Taskmaster TM2800 Shredder from Livingston, N.J.-based Franklin Miller is designed to quickly shred steel drums down to strips of metal for space reduction and to facilitate the recovery of the steel and the contents of the drums.

These units, according to the company, provide fast and efficient destruction of a wide variety of bulk solids, quickly reducing bulk volume by up to 80 percent. Among the materials this low-speed, high-torque shredder can destroy are steel drums, hard drives, pallets, tires and biowaste. The Taskmaster cuts storage and disposal costs, reduces scrap and helps in the safe disposal of hazardous or substandard waste, according to Franklin Miller.
The Taskmaster has a fully enclosed dust-tight body made of heavy structural steel. Hardened and ground cutter disks and spacers ride on two parallel hex shafts. These cutters counter-rotate at different speeds, intermeshing with one another. Solids are grabbed and shredded by this high-torque mechanism. The unit operates with little vibration or noise, the company says.
Taskmaster shredders can be configured to meet almost any application or installation requirement. Each unit is supplied with controls, stand and standard hopper. Other hopper configurations are available, including a packing ram option to assist in feeding.
The TM2800 is part of a full line of Taskmaster shredders. The units are also available with liquid-tight housings and mechanical seals for liquid or submerged applications.
