The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a forest certification group based in Germany, has announced its 2022 FSC Leadership Award winners, which recognize excellence in the use of FSC-certified products and commitments to responsible forest management. The awards honor top certified companies, projects, trademark license holders, nonprofits and individuals that exhibit excellence in the use of FSC-certified products.
This year’s FSC Leadership Award winners include:
- American Greeting Consulting;
- Appalachian Mountain Club;
- Bio Pappel;
- Cascades;
- Ejido Noh Bec, Ejido Caobas Quintana Roo and Ejido Nuevo Becal;
- Element5;
- F&W Forestry;
- Greenerprinter;
- HP Inc.;
- Lafcadio Cortesi;
- Longleaf Alliance, American Forest Foundation and The Nature Conservancy;
- Melissa & Doug;
- Meta;
- Peter Hayes;
- REI;
- West Elm; and
- WWF-US.
According to a news release from SCS Global Services, a provider of third-party environmental and sustainability services based in Emeryville, California, several of this year’s winners include SCS-certified companies and individuals. SCS-certified winners include Bio Pappel, Element5, F&W Forestry, HP Inc., Melissa & Doug and SCS staff member the late Lafcadio Cortesi.
SCS says Bio Pappel was honored for being one of the largest manufacturers of recycled paper in Mexico, using 100 percent recycled raw materials to produce FSC-certified paper for major brands. Additionally, HP Inc. has been recognized for achieving 95 percent FSC or recycled fiber for HP brand paper and packaging in 2020 and increasing FSC-certified forests in China.
