Florida Town Turns Down C&D Recycling Proposal

County Commission rejects plan for recycling facility.

A proposal to build a construction and demolition debris recycling facility in Tarpon Springs, Fla., has been rejected by the County Commission, according to a report in the St. Petersburg Times (St. Petersburg, Fla.).

Angelo’s Aggregate Materials, which runs a similar operation in Largo, Fla., had proposed to build the facility, which would accept truckloads of construction debris from which concrete would be separated, crushed and sold.

The commission received petitions with nearly 250 signatures opposing the project, citing concerns about noise and dust, according to the report.
