Florida County Resurrects Glass Recycling

Material will be crushed and used as roadbase at county landfill.

Hernando County, Fla., has announced that it is once again accepting glass for recycling, according to a report in Hernando Today (Brooksville, Fla.).

The material is now being accepted at the main landfill facility north of Brooksville, both county transfer stations and at three recycling facilities. However, glass will still not be picked up as part of the curbside program in Spring Hill, Fla., according to the report.

The county stopped accepting glass more than three years ago because of a lack of markets for the material.

The glass will be crushed for use as roadbase at the landfill, according to the report.
