Florida County Expands Recycling Efforts

Leon County enters C&D recycling contract with Tallahassee, Fla.-based Marpan Recycling.

Leon County, Fla., has announced the expansion of its recycling efforts for 2009, according to a report in the Tallahassee Democrat (Tallahassee, Fla.).

More than half of what has been disposed of at the county’s Apalachee Solid Waste Management Facility—approximately 50,000 tons of material per year—will now be recycled at Tallahassee, Fla.-based Marpan Recycling.

The move is a result of a contract between Leon County and Marpan Recycling to begin processing construction debris and other material, including cardboard, furniture and carpet.

Marpan Recycling opened in May 2008. More information is available online at www.marpanrecycling.com.
