Florida City Opposes C&D Landfill Expansion

City officials approve resolution opposing Waste Management’s request to expand.

 

City officials in Coconut Creek, Fla., have approved a resolution opposing Waste Management’s request to expand a landfill in Broward County, according to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.).

 

The company wants to extend the landfill from 225 feet to 280 feet.

 

The Waste Management landfill site accepts construction and demolition debris from Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties and garbage from Broward County.

 

The city approved the resolution opposing the request on Jan. 10.
