Hernando County, Fla., sued Inter County Recycling, a Florida-based recycling company for failing to pay for material shipped to the company.
According to attorneys for the county, the company owes Hernando County $21,361.70, not including interest for shipment of aluminum cans to the recycling facility.
A compliant, filed with the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court in and for Hernando County, stated that on Nov. 12, 1998, the Inter County accepted one load of irony aluminum, and one load of clean aluminum from the county. The first load was 11,600 pounds, while the second load was 4,140 pounds.
About one month later, Inter County took in two additional loads of used beverage containers. The two loads combined weighed slightly more than 38,000 pounds.
Since the shipments and numerous requests, the company has failed to make payment for the four shipments.
According to local press reports, Inter-County claimed the material shipped to them were of poor quality, with the shipments contaminated with glass fragments as well as syringes.
The complaint by the county was filed earlier this month. Fred Wagner, an assistant county attorney for Hernando County, said the company has yet to receive any reply for the complain from the recycling company.Latest from Recycling Today
