The Italian company FIMIC has introduced the self-cleaning double-screen melt filter, ERA, which is designed to provide fine filtration for highly contaminated recycled plastic particularly in blown film, high-quality sheet and similar applications. Zimmer America and FIMC will be exhibiting the ERA at the Extrusion 2018, which is scheduled for Sept. 18-20 in Cleveland.
The FIMIC ERA consists of two screens in two separate filtration chambers and two independent discharge points in a single machine. The first chamber uses a punched screen to filter out large and more aggressive contaminants, while the second chamber uses a laser-drilled screen to remove the smaller contaminants from the melt flow, according to the company.
FIMIC specializes in the production of automatic self-cleaning melt filters for heavily contaminated plastic materials and continues to expand into the North American market.
Zimmer America Recycling Solutions is the exclusive sales and service representative for FIMIC in North America. The company says its Spartanburg, South Carolina-based warehouse is fully stocked with essential spare parts.
