Ferrostaal AG, based in Essen, Germany, has announced the commissioning of its first tire recycling plant in Mexico. The announcement was made while Ferrostaal was attending the International Green Expo trade fair in Mexico City Sept. 27-29.
According to Ferrostaal, the purchaser of the tire recycling plant operates a chain of gas stations throughout Mexico where drivers can have their tires recycled.
According to the company, the recycling plant will allow the gas station operator to process around 1,500 kilograms of old tires per hour, twice the company’s current capacity. The tires will be processed into rubber granules.
In a follow up, Ferrostaal declined to mention the purchaser of the equipment, and where or when the equipment would be installed.
Ferrostaal says it is continuing to expand its business in the recycling and environmental technology sectors. Ferrostaal also offers plants for recycling scrap wire, aluminum, magnesium and electronic scrap.
