Brussels-based FEFCO (the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers) has announced that Dr. Jan Klingele, managing partner of Germany-based Klingele Papierwerke, started his two-year term as FEFCO’s president on May 19, 2016. Klingele was installed at FEFCO’s 2016 Summit, which took place in Berlin, and is succeeding Roberto Villaquiran, of Ireland-based Smurfit Kappa Group, who served as FEFCO’s president for four years.
Jean Paul Macharis of Belgium-based VPK and Nina Iversen of Norway’s Glomma Papp were newly elected as vice presidents. Roberto Villaquiran, departing president, also will remain active in FEFCO as a vice president.
“The corrugated industry has shown an overall annual market growth of 2% all over Europe, which is a fantastic result in times of economic and political turbulence,” says Klingele. “I want FEFCO to continue to demonstrate and convey the messages that corrugated packaging is best in class concerning robustness, hygiene and environmental benefits and being a truly circular product. FEFCO should continue to disseminate these facts to a broad audience including politicians and customers because what counts most for them is the unequalled cost benefit ratio that corrugated offers. I am pleased and honoured to serve as President and to continue the successful work that has been done over the years.”
FEFCO, established in 1952, says it represents the interests of European corrugated board manufacturers. The federation has 20 active members, consisting of European national corrugated packaging organisations. FEFCO says its mission is to investigate economic, financial, technical and marketing issues of interest to the corrugated packaging Industry, to analyse all factors which may influence the industry and to promote and develop its image.
