During a recent meeting of the Northeast Recycling Council’s annual Conference, DeAnne Toto, associate editor for the Recycling Today Media Group, presented attendees of the conference with an update of what has happened since the controversial film “Exporting Harm” highlighted the unseemly side of the electronics recycling industry.
While there have been a number of setbacks with the nascent industry, a host of legislative initiatives have been introduced or passed. These aim to develop a cohesive strategy to prevent the unlawful dumping of hazardous material in developing countries.
The presentation was part of a panel discussion looking at some of the opportunities, as well as challenges facing companies involved in the electronics recycling industry.
