Exodus Machines Inc. Announces First Product

Company to first produce 95,000-pound wheeled material handler before expanding product lineup.

Exodus Machines Inc., Superior, Wis., desdcribes itself in a press release as “the first U.S. based company dedicated exclusively to building material handlers.” The company’s first product will be a 95,000-pound wheeled machine with 51-feet-6-inches of reach and a 9-liter 275-horsepower engine. The first machines will be completed in late July and the company will roll out two more sizes during the next 18 months.

“We received support at the state and local level, which made for a smooth start up, and the available workforce is excellent, which will allow us to be more competitive on all levels,” says Bruce Bacon, president and co-founder.

The new state-of-the-art facility features eco-friendly design with computer-assisted manufacturing flow and inventory control. Every employee is required to spend time working on the factory floor. “We want every employee to be fully engaged in the business, and having a hands-on understanding of our product is a big part of that,” Bacon says.

Exodus engineers took a clean-sheet approach to the design of the company’s material handlers and spent hundreds of hours interviewing operators, maintenance personnel and owners/GMs. “At Exodus we are determined to build the best machines available anywhere in the world, and that would not have been possible without putting our engineers directly in contact with the people that live with these machines every day,” says Adam Bennis, director of engineering. “We will build on this practice by making our engineers available for customers to talk to for service issues, which will help us make the best products and make our customers’ lives a little easier  at the same time,” Bennis says.

“We know there are some good machines out there, but we just want to provide a product where people don’t have to compromise between one great product attribute and another—and then we want to take it one step further,” Bennis adds.

Exodus offers machines and parts factory direct. Field service technicians will provide support from key cities across North America, according to the company, but Exodus also is open to establishing service contracts with local service providers.

According to Exodus, response to the company’s launch has been favorable. Greg Bacon, VP of sales and marketing, says, “We couldn’t be more pleased with the reaction we’ve received from people that have heard the whole story.”
