Excel Manufacturing, founded in 1991 by Bryan A. Fisher, who served as CEO of the baler manufacturer until his death April 29, 2010, closed in 2019. At that time, the St. Charles, Minnesota-based company was owned by Bulldog Holdings LLC. In 2022, the company reopened as Excel Baler LLC, operating from Utica, Minnesota, through a partnership between R & R Repair LLC of Utica; Apex Equipment LLC of Mound, Minnesota; and Requip, also of Minnesota.
“Despite the business decision to close, we felt strongly that we needed to restart the business,” says Norm Leger, director of sales with Excel Baler LLC and Apex Equipment LLC. “The challenge was how, and, fortunately, we had three key partners willing to step in to make it work. R&R Repair, Apex Used Baler Equipment and Requip on-site repair services came together to supply Excel parts, on-site repair services and sales.”
Requip supplies Excel customers with service. Randy Laurent with Requip says, “We were surprised at how much ongoing support was needed and how appreciative our customers were.
“We’ve got the foundation solid again and are building the business by providing outstanding service and reconnecting with past customers and even starting new relationships,” Laurent continues. “My team handles the service side, Norm Leger and his sales team at Apex handle new and used equipment sales, and Randy Tarjeson and his team with R & R Repair handle the parts/repair all under one Excel Baler LLC umbrella.”
