Everlast Plastics received a grant of $500,000 from the state of Pennsylvania’s Recycling Markets Infrastructure Development Program. The money will go toward converting Everlast’s plastics extruder into a continuous production line and purchase a shredding unit that will allow the company to process heaver, hard-to-recycle plastics. The company, which opened last year at the site of a closed textile plant, uses scrap plastics, primarily HDPE, to make plastic lumber products for both commercial and residential applications.
The company, based in Auburn, PA, is owned and operated by Robert Cougle, who also owns and operates Cougle Recycling. A majority of the scrap plastics to be used by Everlast will come from Cougle Recycling.
The company will use plastics from 1-7 to make its finished product.
In addition to increasing and expanding the type of plastics that the company will use, Everlast also is expected to increase the number of employees when it installs the new equipment at its facility.
