European Metal Recycling Ltd., one of the largest metal recycling company in Europe, officially launched its first Chinese mainland representative office in Shanghai.
The Britain-based company currently handles more than 8.5 million tons of scrap metal each year. The company presently operates 65 sites around western Europe, with an annual revenue of more than $1 billion.
The addition of the Shanghai office is expected to further complement the company's marketing networks in Asia and help establish stable business relations with EMR's clients here, said Michael Mullighan, chief representative of the new office.
Along with the opening of the Shanghai office, EMR is looking at working on a possible partnership or merger agreement with Metal Management Inc., a Chicago-based scrap metal recycling company.
