The European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) has launched a call for candidates for its 2015 European Paper Recycling Awards. The awards will identify projects, initiatives and campaigns that contribute to Europe’s sustainability through activities supporting paper recycling. Winners will be announced at the official awards ceremony taking place at the European Parliament on Oct. 14, 2015.
In its fifth year, the award program is open to all entities based in Europe, including schools and universities, NGOs, national and regional authorities, companies and associations.
“Recognizing innovative paper recycling initiatives in Europe helps inspire others to copy good practices. I would really encourage all players involved in paper recycling to present their ideas and innovations and have a chance to present them in the European Parliament,” says Henri Vermeulen, EPRC chairman.
There are two categories for the awards: Information & Education and Technology Improvement & R&D. Eligible projects, initiatives or campaigns will be evaluated based on their relevance and originality, achievements, possibility to reproduce the project and cost effectiveness.
An independent jury will judge the entries in each category, with representatives from the European institutions as well as civil organizations and NGOs (nongovernmental organizations). The initiatives may be ongoing or completed but must not have started before January 2013.
All entries must be submitted by June 26, 2015, before midday Brussels time. To apply, visit www.paperforrecycling.eu/recycling-awards.
