European Metal Recycling Confirms Plans to Purchase Mountstar

Britain’s largest scrap processor and exporter buys rival company.

A spokeswoman for European Metal Recycling Ltd (EMR). has confirmed the acquisition of Mountstar Metal Corp. Ltd. by EMR.

 

Britain’s largest scrap processor and exporter declined further comment on the purchase.

 

This purchase is the first acquisition for the company since earlier this year when it bought four separate companies in the Minneapolis area. The company owns interests in New Jersey-based Camden Iron & Metal Inc. EMR also acquired Southern Recycling, a chain of scrap yards along the Gulf Coast, last year. They have also acquired other companies in Europe throughout the past few years, including Cleveland Metal in northeast England, as well as depots in Borowski and Hopp, Germany, in 2005.

 

EMR was founded in 1994 by Manchester-based Sheppard Group who made the first of several key acquisitions to rapidly grow the company and create a global leader in recycling. The company employs 1, 4000 people and operates at 65 locations, with liaison offices around the world.
