ERT Receives Certifications

Electronics recycling firm hopes to see significant increase in business in 2011.

Electronic Recycling and Trading Inc. (ERT), based in Austin, Texas, has announced that it has achieved ISO 14001 certification of its environmental management system and OHSAS 18001 certification for its health and safety management system.

“Customers want assurance that their materials are processed appropriately and that our workplace is safe," says Ken Jaross, ERT president and CEO. "These certifications prove it. Now we have the credentials to secure new business with organizations that require these certifications."

As a result of gaining the new certifications, ERT predicts its business will grow as much as 80 percent in 2011 after growing 63 percent in 2010.

To meet its anticipated growth, ERT says it plans to expand its operations and marketing and sales departments in 2011. ERT also is looking to relocate its business to a larger facility to significantly upgrade its shredding equipment.

ERT says it earned the new certifications after launching a company-wide effort to develop and implement stringent processes that meet or exceed what the industry requires when taking control of e-waste.
